It is manganese, so if you want to actually weld to it you'll need to use a 310 (from memory) stainless steel electrode.
My one is the mantle, its the bottom half of what you have (the concave). If yours hasnt been used as a firepit yet just make sure it doesnt have any backing compound still stuck to the outside. That shit stinks up a storm
Thanks mate, it's fresh from the quarries, so yeah I'll try give it a real good burn with no one else around. As for the welding I'll just get my fabby neighbour to sort that out haha

Started cleaning up garden for the start of veg season.
Surprised finding the sugar snap and snow peas ready for picking (some for tea).

My son has another week. Usual for a 16 year old to want to go to school, he's changing school next year so wants to catch up with his mates.

The only good thing about an 80 series is..... the front end?? Wrong!!, the Engine?? Wrong!! the Full Time 4WD system?? Wrong!! Its the NissanPatrol.com.au stubby holder fitted over the transfer lever. WARNING: Towballs used for recoveries can, and do kill people and damage property.
