Slip joints location
I'm replacing the joints on the prop shafts and got a bit confused. Are both the slip joints supposed to be facing towards the rear of the car (like the rear shaft slip joint closer to the diff than the transmission) Could they have been installed the wrong way by the previous owner. It is a 2012 Diesel Y61.

Many people reverse the rear tail shaft so that the slip joint is above the chassis brace to give it more clearance. This should not pose a problem.

The master farter
As Dhuck said. Narrow end above the chassis crossmember mate.

Not need to flip the front shaft mate. Theres nothing to foul with it.

Most important consideration is that the Unis are in time. make sure that each end of each Driveshaft has the Uni installed in the same cycle or you will get Mad vibration through your drivetrain.

Funny thing that. The Ford Ranger PX1 onwards had a vibe from the beginning. Ford did fix this by putting the uni joints out of phase. This now creates a horrible vibe from take off and then goes away after lifting 40-45mm. The fix for it is lowering the center bearing down about 20mm or flipping the bracket or caster wedged on the rear springs. Dickheads.
