Hi all. I have a 3.0L ute with ARB compressor mounted rearward of a bracket that holds the catch can as seen in this pics. Unsure if that catch can bracket is a home made job or something off a shelf.
Anyway the space for the second battery tray looks big enough for the tray although I may need to run a smaller battery as the large battery may clash with the catch can. I can live with that.
Just wondering if anyone has fitted a battery tray with a catch can in that spot. Trawled the net for instructions and looks like my coolant hose is in a different spot to some instructions. Unsure if that is a factory hose location? Looks to be.
Move the catch can to the other side of that bracket. Hose is cheap. If you want a second battery you want the best one you can fit. you are suggesting a significant compromise jsut to Not move the catch can which can go anywhere.
Here are the best pics i can find of my underbonnet at the moment.

The only good thing about an 80 series is..... the front end?? Wrong!!, the Engine?? Wrong!! the Full Time 4WD system?? Wrong!! Its the NissanPatrol.com.au stubby holder fitted over the transfer lever. WARNING: Towballs used for recoveries can, and do kill people and damage property.
The ARB Tray seems to come up trumps in the searches. The projecta also but it confused me with the installation instructions around that coolant hose. Open to suggestions. I have made carriers for batteries under trays before but was trying to avoid that this time if it isn't difficult.
@Njrqs Need to think of what other mods you may consider down the track (eg: intercooler size/type). From what I can see, think you have stock size cooler, so you can keep the catch can on same side of the existing brkt so get yourself some 50x50mm angle and bolt that to existing brkt (verticle face) and move the CC closer to engine. Old pic of mine, now moved to other side where your compressor is.
Have ARB aux tray fitted_08CRD. Totally different build these days.
Mudrunner thanks - I also have the compressor behind as stated so there would be a bit to it in moving the catch can back there.
Hi mate, I missed that yoy had the ARB Comp there. I can see the back of the mounts there. I would still be looking to move the catch can. Fit the battery and then problem solve the catch can for sure. You may find you xan fit it beside the comp. Or other side of the engine bay or pretty well anywhere to be honest.
Here is photos I just took of my GUIV with a TD42 and no Top Mount cooler.
Hope they help you mate. Have you got some better pics of that side of your engine bay.
