so we get some limestone delivered. now we get the bill. they charge us $104 for an hour for the truck. I ask why when we live 3 mins from them. They say, we had to go to XYZ to get it for you. I say, lucky you didn't have to go to Sydney.
I shouldn't have to pay for them to get their stock in. We got 6 metres, the truck would carry at least twice if not 3 times that. Now I wonder are we subsidising their bloody cartage. Lucky we didn't get charged consultation fees when we rang up and asked about it.

Sounds like they are selling and not stocking the product - improves their cashflow position not having to hold stock, but the buyer pays the 'on demand' delivery cost. Somewhere along the line you have to pay for freight, its just more expensive doing a specific pick up of a small quantity than getting it bulk delivered to their doorstep. Annoying for sure but understandable.

Do you have their quote in writing? If not then you are sucked in bad. if so then talk small claims blah blah. Might be enough to put them back in their box.

Mudnut has it spot on , depends on your quote .
I was stung once but after that I've had a few chase me for delivery charges or travelling but I ask for an all up price including delivery or travelling charges .

People pushing and shoving for camping gear at Aldi. And it's not even free !
Imagine what they'd do if world began running out of food !

It must be my area ... Last year I saw a fight for the outdoor furniture setting..
This morning push n shove round for the 12V fridge . Madness.
