Sticky deflator

I have a tyre deflator like the picture and the moving bits have a bad habit of sticking really badly; so hard that it is very difficult to turn or move by hand after it has remained unused for a while. And there is definitely no sand or other $hit in it.
What is the best lube to use on these? I don't want to tear the O rings out or damage them with the wrong lube.

Good tip in most cases... but in this instance its not the thread (or at least never has been on mine)... 99% of teh time its the O rings on the slider and the spindle so the lubricant has to penetrate and also not hold dust, grit, sand etc.

Bitta spit and it will free up. Well mine does the same and that’s what I do lol.

Yep, that was the first thing I tried. Made it a little better but still way short of what I reckon it should be - it still binds when left for a while. I pulled it apart and thoroughly cleaned it and even polished the appropriate parts before using the silicon.
Hesitant to use anything wet or greasy as it only attracts grit and dust, although I have seen someone use WD40 which did solve their immediate problem.
Seems like this in not an uncommon issue.
I do have some powdered graphite so might give that a go.
Damn thing has had little use but is out of warranty. Might have to just pension it off and replace it. At around $20 it's not worth getting too upset over.

you will more than likely find that all these deflators do it. Regardless of brand. I did use silicone spray in mine once. Helped for a while.

Yes my ARB Deflator is the same. I did take the first one back as faulty but when the second was the same i figured it was a design flaw. Lubricate it if needed. I would not be too concerned about attracting dust as it is only out of its pouch periodically and not a bi deal. I was more concerned about causing the O Ring to break down depending on teh lube i use. I have not ever sprayed mine i just put up wth it. a little frustrating for sure.

I don’t even bother getting our wagons SuperCrapCentre one out on family trips anymore. Silly thing jams every second tyre. It’s just easier to pinch AB’s ARB one still going long time strong faultless
