I don't even know if the gear is the problem.

Hope everything is ok! Looking at the gear and the the loom connecting to it would be the first port of call anyway mate.

Ok. Its telling me you could either have a 15 or 16 tooth gear. Brown or yellow. 32743-VB015 or 32743-VB016. Atleast you have the common and cheap speedo gear.
Bugger about the wrist mate.

Thanks mate.
I'll see if I can get under it tommorow.
Meant to start painting, then start collecting our stuff which is stored at 3 different places and move in. Fun times.

Assuming you will have a similar arrangement to on my car.....
Check the wiring & the connector near to where they go into the rear of the gearbox. That was where the problem was with mine. I couldn’t get the connector apart so cut it out & rejoined the two wires using spade connectors. Speedo is once again working reliably - even agrees with the gps!
Prior to fixing it the speedo sometimes worked ok, sometimes not at all & sometimes the needle bounced around erratically on the dial.

May not be the same problem. Mine just stopped working, everything speedo, odometer, trip just stopped and hasn't changed. Been about 2 weeks now.

Do you mean the trip & odo stopped counting or that they don’t even illuminate? If you still see the numbers, but they just don’t increase as you drive, that is what happened on mine whilst the speedo wasn’t working due to the poor wire connection at the rear of the gearbox. If the numbers don’t illuminate at all then you I’d suspect you have an electrical issue behind the dash.

Far better scenario than having to dismantle the dash & play with circuit boards I’d reckon. Either wiring or the drive. I'd guess that were it a worn drive gear you would almost certainly have seen some inaccurate or intermittent speedo activity before it stopped working altogether. I’m not sure what the drive itself looks like, but it’s not one which turns a speedo cable, just generates a variable electrical signal via two thin wires. Good luck, & be prepared to wait rather than buggering up that wrist again!
