Hi guys
Would a towbar from a 2000 GU wagon fit on my 1994 coil cab chassis?
Cheers

G’day Jack, I wouldn’t think so mate, GU’s have wider spread chassis rails than your GQ ute beast. Did just notice on your other thread it already has a tow ball on some sort of extra extended rear chassis setup. Are you not too confident with it currently mate?

Yeah I am confident of its towing ability but it makes my departure angle really crap and I just hear the rear end scrape every drop off..
I also want a reece hitch so I can remove the hitch.
Cheers for that I didn't think it would but just to be sure...

You have a dodgy brothers towbar at the moment, my ex farm Cab/Chassis was the same (mine was a mod'd Hilux one I think the Towbar mob said).
You might find a custom Tow Bar mob will fabricate something for you otherwise you will end up the same issue I had which is the factory/aftermarket "off the shelf" Stock Bars sit a long way under the tray.
The exit angle V hitch location is mutually exclusive unless you shorten the tray IE the better the angle the further under the hitch will be.
Farmers etc want long trays and don't worry much about exit angle
You can try and get a custom job made which has a high hitch receiver and then use a "drop down" tongue for towing.
Bottom line is it depends how much towing versus high clearance 4WD you do... if it is the latter a stock bar may work... just watch out for clearance issues when on full lock or reversing with a trailer
Dolphins are so smart that within a few weeks of captivity, they can train people to stand on the very edge of the pool and throw them fish.

Yeah thanks for that...
I rarely tow anything any way.
I once saw a guy with a gu ute that modified a hayman reese towbar to mount on top of his chassis...which would give really good clearance.

Top advice E.T mate!
Ute trays over covering standard ball hitch points can be trailer turn crushing for sure.
Mrs MB’s wagon is fine on any square fronted say Jayco box turning well beyond 67.5 degrees.
Extra cab MB’s ute extended tray can at best tweak a 45 degreeish with a pointy hulled little boat behinds :-)
