for gearbox i'd go with a GL 4 grade over a GL 5, i think its 80-90.
transfer i think is 80-90 gl5
i'm using nulon as was the only gl4 i could get easily
if its worth doin its worth over doin

always ran castrol vmx-m with a tube of nulon g70 in my gq, was the only oil i tried that made it shift any good

Blokes at our nearest Semi-Rural ‘Burson’s’ also swear by them Nulon tubes too BillyJ mate!
They reckon its the only stuff that gets their Land Crab boxes shifting without hassle. Did buy a tube once too and might give it to a close work mates GU having highway 5th <>4th issues and see what may prove too!

Just found out I will need 3.9L for the gearbox and 2.2 for the transfer. Do you guys reckon I go for the full synthetic oil from penrite or the mineral from castrol? I've been told that a 4L from Penrite will be 62$ and I will need 2 of these. It seems pretty expensive but I am leaning towards full synthetic.

I've been using the Pro Gear 75w-85 from penrite for years.
What ever you choose, it must be a GL-4.
GL-5 jams the syncros in a GQ manual transmission.
Castrol vmx
Cheers for the replies. Ended up going for Penrite GL4 as it worked out cheaper anyway.

Castrol VMX is the only oil I've used to make it cold shift properly. No need for an extra additive as it is already in the oil
