Yep, my first boss was an old ex US navy engineer and he got me onto straight black coffee/no sugar, as he said thats all you will find in a canteen at 3am on a sunday morning when you are stuck doing a job, and he has been 100% right ever since!

Most of the crap I have 'endured' is the stuff that had a high percentage of Chicory seed in it, as a coffee substitute - common in the early '80's but not much around now - more the hydrochloric acid leeched Nescafe muck

Have visited a few base messes 70s-90s and the only thing happening that early in the morn was the coffee near cold brew or big tin of grit..
Carry my stove top coffee m/c when ever away, works well on the hot coals (no handle though...). Love roasting green beans then in the pot..

My missus told me to get single axle trailer instead of a dual axle, for that exact reason.
I've lent it out twice and came back damaged once - and the borrower didn't even have the guts to tell me he broke it. Not happy.

Yuck! Instant Coffee. You get a better coffee flavour from a muddy puddle. Best thing I ever did was buy an espresso machine. Got a new one cheap from the Sunbeam factory outlet. never looked back.
