I just installed a EGT in my Td42 Gq what temperature rang should I be in or keep away from?
G’day mate, consesus I believe kindly read on here too prior to fitting one ourselves on the TD42T family truckster was 550D+ (extended periods) was danger zone. We chose a Redarc twin jobbie for boost as well and had the EGT audible alarms set for 550 alert then 600 squealing at us. An intercooler and new tune would keep ours happier but unsure if you can do too much about exhaust temps on a TD42 naturally aspirated, others will know best mate but they are pretty tough donks we’ve foolishly torture tested :-) !

That will be the cold junction temperature.
IE the gauge can't see the thermocouple because you have a wiring fault/short/wrong connection
Dolphins are so smart that within a few weeks of captivity, they can train people to stand on the very edge of the pool and throw them fish.
It is best to put the thermocouple pre turbo somewhere in the collector area before entering the turbo.
Interesting point but I have no excess to the collector area with out drilling and taping a thread
