Recovery Points - GU
Hi all,
Looking to replace the front GU "hook" with recovery points (front). Read a fair bit on here and sent threedogs a PM. Does anyone know if he is still doing these?
If not, for a 2016 GU Y61, the hook just has 2 bolts, vertical into chassis rail. The recovery points I've seen online (eg: roadsafe RP-PAT04) have 3 holes vertical plus a side horizontal hole which the GU has no-where to bolt that up. Are these just universal and you just bolt up the 2 bolts same as the hook?
I did notice on the drivers side there is also 3 holes with nuts welded into the chassis above the hook, but the passenger side has the holes with no nuts.
Any recommendations?
Cheers,
Shane

TD has been dealing with some personal issues so doesn't get to post on the forum much but I'll send him an email for you and ask if he still sells them .

Much appreciated, but only if you think he would be ok with it, don't want to be a nuisance.

I've got three dogs recovery points on my GU 2016 Legend series, they only use the two bolt holes as pictured below.

I find it almost incomprehensible that any 'serious' 4wd can be sold in standard form without front & rear recovery points suitable for the intended use!

Yeah or even worse - have something there that 'almost' does the job! That's even worse... like the hook front and loop rear.
As for the cape - keep an eye out, we'll be pretty easy to recognise. Us in the Legend Edition (not many of those around) and my father-in-law with his 60 series bright red landcruiser sahara. Say hi if you spot us Oh yeah - around june 25 - july 20

I just went to the local bolt shop and asked for grade 8 M14 x 1.5 bolts to attach the recovery points. They sold me Metric 8.8 marked bolts which i now see are actually grade 5 bolts. Should i go back and replace them with Metric 10.9 marked bolts?
Will the 8.8 be strong enough?
If they don't have 10.9 anyone recommend where i can get them?
Cheers,
Shane
