Youtube used to show me recommended videos based on my past watch history (i.e. if I watched a video about AFL for instance, the youtube home page would offer a range of other videos on that topic), but it no longer does this. All I get now is recommended videos based on various topics like "Trending", "TV Shows", "Music", etc which generally don't interest me that much.

I've gone into settings but cant figure out how to get recommended videos based on what I've watched previously. Any tips or tricks?

Are you currently logged in to the account linked to your YouTube? Mine is hooked to my Gmail email account and that gives me recommendations based on previously viewed videos.
Check in the top right of YouTube if your currently logged in.
