Yeah bugger Kallen. Good to see it was only that and nothing worse and the family are ok. Woulda scare the shite out ya when it let go...
isn't the main cause hot flanges and cold water crossings? sudden cooling that lossens the nut tension, bit like freeze spray on rusted nuts. I know I was always told to check regularly after water crossings, especially the first one after any distance of normal 4x4 travel. BTW, that was with the old style GQ alloys, and they aren't as bad for it as the GU alloys/nut style. Nissan aren't the only brands to suffer from this.

Anyway.
On the way home now.
