Just a late night theory Mc4by mate :-) Gather the recovery knowledge from legends here and get out amongst it. Your Patrol will serve you well, love thy beast :-) !

My ute had a winch when I bought it but as far as I can tell it doesn't work, no remote to plug into the connection on the bull bar and the switch in the cab does f!@# all. My GQ had a factory locker but half the time that didn't work either. I would say neither is a priority for you.

Agreed MB , mine being an auto means I can brake lightly while accelerating which limits wheel spin and gives me plenty of grip , if I won Tatts I would only maybe put lockers on the front anyway .

drove my last 4x4 for 400k maybe the last 50k with front and rear lockers.
Ive driven most tracks in the High country some a few times,
all with no winch or lockers, been bogged a million times but always went
with another 4x4. Had a ball and learnt a lot.
my Patrol has a Warn XP9.5 winch and a rear LSD,
when funds allow a front Pro-locker is going in.
but my back is stopping me atm from doing many tracks.
04 ST 3lt auto, not enough Mods to keep me happy, but getting there
A locker is a good investment though to tackle difficult terrain without the need for relying on momentum and possible damage to car but it is a luxury that most don't need.
