The idea behind using the Turbosmart dual port actuator is we can have finer control over the actuator. We get this control from using a electronic boost controller, in this particular case a turbosmart Eboost street.
So with these 2 parts working in partnership with other we can have very accurate control of the actuator which equals boost control. See with the dual port actuator we can have pressure on either side of the diaphragm. This means we can hold it shut when exhaust manifold pressure is trying to open it. Also we can basically control exactly when we want the wastegate to open. With a normal type actuator the exhaust manifold pressure can start to overcome the spring before you have given it signal to do so.
The other great thing about the turbosmart actuator is you can put a number of different spring combinations in to suit your desired boost curve. This again gives you that finer control over a conventional style actuator.
