The only good thing about an 80 series is..... the front end?? Wrong!!, the Engine?? Wrong!! the Full Time 4WD system?? Wrong!! Its the NissanPatrol.com.au stubby holder fitted over the transfer lever.

That looks nice and easy, how was it feeding the rope down the inside ? I imagin that parts annoying
yeah was not to bad. My rope is use so probably be easier in brand new rope. second hand rope is a bitch!
I watched this Video too and then used the first half of this vid ie. the taper and tape it up then used the top link to build the splice. All good and pretty simple.

I have some spare 19mm plasma I use as a GP type of rope around camp. I have only gone in and out about 4 times as the more pressure the tighter the grip.
Has not let go but I use mainly for logs around camp, I'll put up a pic, I only fitted a rated hook to each end, I could of course feed it down the centre

Thanks MR great links.
I'm constantly impressed how much info you can pick up on this forum
Think it's worth mentioning --
Reading the links attached printed info "could" help you do an even better job repairing your own gear.
EG--how kinks, knots, twists, bend etc can weaken a rope.
so called "best practice" will help keep rope integrity & lesson the chance of mishaps even further.
not preaching, personal experience trying to repair a rope well on the first attempt does breed confidence.
IF IT'S NOT A NISSAN.
THEN IT'S A COMPROMISE

Locked Brummel or a Brummel seized with whipping or heat shrink is the the way to go with synthetics
Dolphins are so smart that within a few weeks of captivity, they can train people to stand on the very edge of the pool and throw them fish.
Heat shrinking not too hot for the rope??
