The Pinnacle one is very similar but as above it does not use the same thickness tube.
And it is steel not Aluminium

Yes but they weigh in at around 55kgs !!!!! All the decent steel racks are 50kgs to 60kgs empty!! The allow one weighs about 25kgs. That's a heap of extra weigh you are carting around. And load you can't put on the rack as the rack is the load!!

I am stoked with my Alloy rack.

The only good thing about an 80 series is..... the front end?? Wrong!!, the Engine?? Wrong!! the Full Time 4WD system?? Wrong!! Its the NissanPatrol.com.au stubby holder fitted over the transfer lever.

Here are some pics of my ARB rack that I said I would put up. Shows the cross bars and spacing, and the feet system.

Ain't going to try and justify the price as some of the other racks posted look great and tough, but we all make our own choices and I'm happy with mine.

Looks awesome Lemo. The double cross joists at each foot will provide a heap of strength too mate and the quality of the finish is very high. The Black Widow ones are also very very tidy. Just soooo much more than the eBay ones!!!

I note also in the last pic that the ARB one comes with a full length gutter stip supporting the feet for the full length of the gutter. Thatis also a very if upgrade.

Count the cross braces, thats what is going to carry your load for a long time

I have the Aussie Auto Parts Rooftop Tent Rack, which looks like the one at the top, with no sides at the back, and it is good.

I initially had the earlier version alloy Rooftop Tent rack, where the feet weren't spread out as far and it had less cross braces, and mine actually broke on the rear weld from the rack to the gutter mount on the Simpson Crossing as I believe it had too much overhang and leverage with the weight of the rooftop tent behind the last support, and I had to bind it up with wire and cable ties to get it across and back.

I haven't taken the new one across the desert yet ( and it hasn't broken ) so it is hard to say whether the new one is better, but I would be wary of the cheap racks...... The new one just looks right, whereas I was worried about the other one from the day I got it, but I was pressed for time, and took the chance

Ok I've decided to go with the ARB one. I have the $11, I'm just short the $1600. So who would like to do that chocolate fundraiser thing for me so I can get the funds?

Ive been looking at all types of alloy roof racks for my GQ and have priced Rhino,Blackwiddow and ARB, they are all priced from$1000-$1500 depending on the one you want and where you buy it. I came across the Pinnacle ones on their website for $400+freight. surely freight to Tas is only $150 max (ive emailed them)
They look the same as the ARB ones only they have 4 feet for the gutter. For my money I will take a chance if the freight doesn,t turn out to be a ridiculous number. Its got to get to the Birdsville races and back next year Does anyone know anything more about these racks that might change my mind?
