Stainless Exhaust Manifold
Hi all i have tried to search this but found very little results.
My manifold on my turbo td42 is warped and needs to be replaced
I have looked on ebay an come across stainless manifolds but can hardly find anything out about them has anyone on this sight have one? Turboglide want $560 for one of there manifolds and i cant really bring myself to buy one as of yet!
Any info would be great thanks

Check out max speeding rods. I would recommend sticking with a cast manifold or even get yours skimmed. It is for turbo application isn't it?

Stainless ones are prone to cracking.

nissannewby i have a max speed rods manifold now and it has warped after only 3 months, and yes it for a turbo application

Ultimately it's up to you. Maybe get it machined and save your money for a DTS/safari/denco manifold.

Thanks for your help mate, ill get it machined an see how that works! Might be a stupid question but do DTS make high mount manifolds as they are a low mount set up?

Only low mount mate. Denco do high mount but I think they are around $550 as well.

I have just taken my rubbish 'maid in china' stainless turbo exhaust manifolds as available on ebay. DON'T BUY ONE. They are absolute rubbish. I only paid $185 app, so I pity any poor sole who pays as high as $550 as I have seen. When I first purchased mine, I did a leak test before I put it on and sure enough it had a small hole in it which I then welded up. The T3 turbo flange was very badly distorted so I had to machine that true as well. I also machined the ports flush as it was leaking. Now after only say 2000 k's it has major cracks in it. Although I did heat wrap it which may not have helped. So spend the extra and buy a Turboglide or other quality product. That's what I now have to do.

I agree with klompy. I recently had to get a stainless steel manifold welded on a piece of machinery we were working on. Took it to an specialist exhaust shop and was told.
1 SS in exhausts is not of high quality - you can weld it with a mig because it has high iron content.
2 SS is prone to crystalising with heat and will crack.
3 Welding exhaust grade SS weakens it and the repaired item will not be as strong as the original.

409 grade stainless steel is good for exhausts, some use it but most don't cos it doesn't look as pretty.
GUIII ZD30 Manual Wagon, OME 2" lift, 33" BFG AT's, Snorkel, Chip, 3" Redback Exh, Dual Batts, etc.
