4wding around the Gold Coast?
Hi all,
Just wondering where on the Gold Coast we can still go 4wd'ing (legally)? Ormeau seems to be all closed now from what I've been reading. Did Duck Creek Rd yesterday. Closest beach without a permit is Evens Head but too far a quick run. Anything around Coomera maybe?

There used to be heaps around coomera, but it all housing now, used to be behind coomera train station and near the upper coomera woolies,
Ormeau is awsome worth the fines for getting caught.
Best thinig is to make a day of it and go to the glass house

Personally, glass house is way more fun. More to do, more options, hard tracks have a chicken track.
City view and scenic are 1 park now. Could do most tracks in 1 day. Plus it's $30?? To get in. And time limited.
Basically the glass house is way better.

Decided to go for a drive today.
* Forest just off Smith St is private property owned by Hanson Concrete.
* Little Nerang Dam Rd was closed with a SEQ Water gate. The gate says closed 6pm to 6am each day. I was there 1pm Sunday and it was closed. Might try again later.
* Found a spot at Mt Nathan thanks to 4x4earth.com.au. You drive up a driveway into the bush. I won't be there for long though as a new housing estate is building there. Steep climb to start with and then about 1/2 way up it's real rutty. It then started pissing down so reversed down the now wet slippery track and turned around. Will give it another try in the dry.
That's as far as I got today but 99% of it was road driving just seeing what's still here and what isn't.

-Scenic Rims new park is pretty good but getting a bit boring unless you like thrashing up and down hills.
-Janowen Hills just over cunninghams gap is better with great camping.
-Try Wongawallan Road which goes up Tamborine Mountain. Its a well maintained fire trail but has lots of offshoots to explore! Can be slippery (FUN) in the wet.
-Head south to Murwillumbah then out towards Mebbin State Forest. Lots of fun muddy trails to explore there and its legal as long as your vehicle is registered but look out for idiots on dirt bikes.
