they have been around for years as they were first bought in for the US Coast Guard, they do have a bit of crappy taste but they work well.
You can buy them in bulk as well

Amazon and places like that sell it in bulk a lot cheaper than individual sachets. 5 year shelf life makes it cheap overall
I also carry a few packets of steritabs just in case
