Hi,
Arguably I may have been lucky that over the years I've always managed to park all the cars I've ever had in a garage (one car at a time, I'm not that rich ).
I'm planning to upgrade to a GU (new/near new), and may have to leave it parked outside. And I intend to keep this car for 10 years if not more (I'm only typically driving approx. 15,000km p.a.). So the questions to you all are:
1) How good is GU paint and finish in general especially if parked outside for that long?
2) What are the most common problems (rust prone areas etc). From my search there seems to be no specifically weak areas. Generally corners / places where water may stay longer are naturally more prone to rust. And seems Lanolin spray can help(?)
3) What can I do to reduce the "damage" (I live in Sydney and the place is not too close to the sea, to give you the kinds of weather the car will be subjected to).
Sharing of info, experience and advice would be most appreciated.
Thanks,
Jon
