My GUIV is a Tough Tourer. My GQ is an extreme car and has been set up for that purpose. Short trip stuff. You can't expect to USE it hard core and expect it to then do a 5000km touring trip! Regardless of a GU or GQ it just not fair to the car or the rest of the trip.

If you have a GU setup like my GQ with all the bar work then Play Hard. Mine still has a plastic rear bumper and it took a few hits the other week at Tallarook. Would prefer not to wreck it.

The GU is way more comfortable but is WAY WAY bigger too! And in the bush in the tight stuff it rubs on more stuff.

If you just want the comfort then seriously buy a 200 series! Nice! But not a patrol!

I reckon they both ROCK! They are both Nissan Patrols and both have a TD42T! Life is good
Agreed. This argument will never be laid to rest. It all comes down to personal choice. My 3L goes quite hard and for now is reliable. I do wish it was a 4.2 but as it happens to anyone buying a Patrol, you get what you can afford at the time.
Just before the meet at Andy's I missed out on the golden opportunity of a life time. A factory turbo intercooled 4.2 with 250k on the clock with a blown turbo for under $1300! With radiator, IP and anything I needed to convert my Troll over off the donor car. That will teach me not to remember to set my phone to tell me when its going off on Ebay. A few tears were had that night...

The only good thing about an 80 series is..... the front end?? Wrong!!, the Engine?? Wrong!! the Full Time 4WD system?? Wrong!! Its the NissanPatrol.com.au stubby holder fitted over the transfer lever.

Believe it or not I actually have that program. Have had it for years but stopped using it a while ago because it wasn't sniping and I found I was losing more than winning. I must get back onto this program.

    I tapped that app...

GU looks like a Cruiser 2 me and I have had many non 4wd people say 2 me is that a Patrol while passing a TL.

The only reason a cruiser would look like a GQ is because the owner obviously made a mistake while shopping for a four wheel drive and regrets not buying a GQ

    Show me some pics George

It's so true the gq dose look a bit like a 60 and the gu dose look a bit like a 80 hell I'm surprised that nissan hasn't made the y62 look like the 100/105 cruisers.
I don't under stand y all the gu guys keep saying that the gq looks like a 60 cruiser when if anything the series 1,2, and 3 gu's look more like an 80 cruiser then what the gq dose a 60. And I'm a gu guy and I'm saying this. Also saying that a gq looks like a 60 is actually a compliment because the 60 is probably on of the toughest 4wds that was make and that is saying something considering its the the only Toyota that u could say is tough and it's also one of the roughest 4wds to be made as well lol
