    Rear light mods

    Hi All
I have a UK spec GU shorty, which has the lights at the rear shown below.

Do you guys have the same? The ones in the side by the door do nothing except reverse light one side and fog light the other. The tail and brake light are in the bumper. I think it looks naff at night and would like to put tail and stop lights in the big one. I've taken it out and it looks like it is capped off with no easy way of fitting a bulb.

So, does anyone know a way of modding these or if you guys have a different version, maybe I can buy some and install them?

    Cheers

    Nick

Ebay has exactly the light you need. Globes included and bolts straight in.

LH side will plug in and work with no mods.

Wiring will need a re-arrange on RH side. Two wires will need to be run from LH side to pick up two signals. Also the plug on RH side doesn't have enough pins. Best option is cut it off and wire your own generic plug to suit. Soldering of course.

Thanks P4trol. Do you know if a 2002/4 rear light will fit as I think they look nicer?

    Cheers

I don't know, but I'm guessing not a straight swap. Your vehicle is series 1? Use evilbay for ideas on what you can get.

I wanted the altezza look, but believe they are only for II and onwards. Happy with both my lights looking quite like your pic. Nice and visible too.

    Yes those ones!.

I just found something out: Your first link came up with an item I didn't see before on ebay. Ebay searches seem to be a bit funny. I usually search for '98 patrol tail light' if you search for '1998 patrol tail light' it gives you results not covered by just the search beginning with 98.

Not sure if I'm confident buying from Latvia though.

I'm not too worried about buying from Latvia - the feedback is reasonable and i'll be protected by paypal hopefully!

What do you do about the fog light though? my right one is only used for fog light but if i gt these id like to use it for tail/brake lights?
