Question Leaf spring 4.2 diesel diff centre to coil 2.8 centre housings

Hey all I've been offered a gq ute 4.2 diesel with leaf spring diffs front n back
does any-1 know if the centres & axles are interchangeable with 97 2.8diesel coil housings?

Just asking as if I put the 4.2 engine in my wagon with the 2.8 diff ratios it'll be reving a bit like what
the 2.8 does now. To high with only 33" tyres or should I leave 2.8 ratio in & change to 35" tyres as I
am thinking of doing the cape in september & I mainly use my gq for towing n ocassional offroad
like fraser twice a year n local day trips.

Any sugestions as I don't want to be ringing the 4.2's head off all day every day

    Cheers TonyD

The rear won't as the leafys have the larger h260 diff I think it is as for front they should change over. Check the compliance plate as to what ratios are in the ute.

Mate id be leaving in the diffs of the wagon. The leaf spring ute was the only model to come with a different diff that ran a higher ratio = more revs at given speed. so putting the motor into the wagon will actually lower the revs, standard diff for a td42 is 4.111 ratio. id be betting that the 2.8 wagon you have has 4.111 or 3.9 so i wouldnt worry about it mate.
