Easy question Bob, Newtons first law of motion, An item travelling at a constant velocity will remain at a constant velocity unless acted on by a net external force.

nope, hint - you need to take into account the speed of the car also

I'm not clever enough to work this out properly but the train would be approaching the car at a 45 degree angle from the front right with a closing speed of about 200km/h. Am I even close???

Yeah close enough tony, a little more than 200km/hr. 212.8km/hr to be precise and South 19.4 dregrees West.

With respect to the car the train is travelling 100km/hr south and 130km/hr southwest. So the train is travelling ~ 192km/hr south and ~92km/hr west or 212.8km/hr South 19.4 dregrees West.

A man goes out drinking every night, returning to his home in the wee hours of every morning. No matter how much he drinks, he never gets a hangover. How could this be?
