    Tangodoun's Drawer Build

Hey. Here's my first try at drawers for my GU patrol. I looked into a drifta build but decided to go DIY when I saw the quote. My goal was not particularly to do it as cheap as possible but to create what I wanted significantly cheaper than buying it. It came to half the cost of the drifta quote which I'm super happy with and I now have the worlds cheapest tracksaw and router for future projects. Of course the other cost is in the time it took to build which came to 9 days spread out but it's a fun project.

The end result is mostly inspired by the drifta wagon #2 build.
The left drawer is on teflon slides. I would have done the same with the right but got gifted an msa drawer that I had to make work with a plywood housing. That ended up being the most challenging part of the build and it wouldn't have worked without a router. I also recarpeted the front of the drawer to be an exact match to the rest of the carpet. There's a battery sized storage box at the back left and I found a neat fridge slide with a chopping board extension. The hutch is removable and I cut it to slot into the base and also have a few bungees loops for extra security.

Pretty much all of the material was cheaper somewhere else than Bunnings. A local fabrication shop did the angle treadplate up for the price of a six pack. For the carpet I went to a local motor trimmer and they also answered questions about the glueing process. I ended up using almost all of 3 sheets x 2400mmx1200mmx12mm construction ply and stand by the thickness choice.

The whole thing is mounted on the sides with brackets I welded up at work. They use mainly the third row seat boltholes and also funtion as the real structural supports for the wings.
The build uses heaps of t nuts to allow repeat disassembly/assembly and extra space for drawers. I was advised that a tracksaw was essential for accuracy and when i couldn't hire one, found a cheap one at sydney tools that i'd highly recommend.

The recessed wiring is for the led striplighting in the MSA drawer.
