Not sure about the new Penns, I have a Penn 16s International 2 which I won about 15 years ago and it's still going strong. Filled with 24kg mono and mated to a custom 15-24kg Hot Rod short stroker it handles anything thrown at it.
I haven't bought any new gear for quite a few years now, the stuff I have just lasts well, as long as it's looked after. There will be a couple of new outfits gracing the rod rack in a while, specifically for flicking plastics at flatties, not sure what they will be yet.
