AC - sensor on GU patrol
Hi Guys, on hot days ,I found that while in traffic my Air-con cuts out because when the Temp needle go over half way mark on gauge. then when it drops below half way the Air-con goes back to normal and keeps driver happy again LOL. ? because Temp never goes to 3/4 on temp gauge, can you over ride the AC sensor by putting in a cut switch to it and the other ? is where is the sensor located , regards Alex

I don't know what engine you have, but if the A/C is cutting out due to excessive heat then you have a problem with your cooling system.
I would make sure there is no blockage between the condenser and radiator and that your cooling system and fans are working correctly.

The other reason why your A/C is cutting out could be because the gas pressures inside the A/C system are getting to high.
Once again this could be because of poor airflow through the condenser and radiator, your A/C has to much gas in it or you have a problem within the A/C system.
So if your cooling system is working correctly I recommend you take it to a auto A/C mob and get them to inspect and service your A/C system.
Sorry, I don't feel comfortable telling you how to bypass this safety feature, it would be like me telling you to bypass a fuse that keeps blowing with standard wire.

Sounds a bit like the thermo switch at the evaporator could be playing up also (whether mechanical or electrical) - either way, as Rod suggested, time for an AC specialist to have a gander - hope its not that thermo switch though, they aren't cheap ...
Good luck with it mate - hopefully something simple. I spent 5 hours going over my AC system on Friday due to it not working, and after pulling everything apart, buying a new $56 relay, and fearing the worst, it ended up being the power line between the relay and the pressure switch!! $1 in materials and 3 minutes later it was fixed!!! lmao ... always the way when I tinker with electrics though!! lol
