    Charcoal cannister

Does anyone know how to check the charcoal cannister on a GQ patrol. All the manuals i have read say that when you blow into the vaccum connection it should be blocked and the othe two connections( purge and fuel tank) should not be blocked. I have just bought a new genuine cannister from nissan @ $320 and tested it. The vaccum connection is blocked the purge connection is also blocked and the fuel tank conection is not blocked when I blow into them. This does not conform with the workshop manual. Can anyone help?

16 years as a motor mechanic and I've never tested one, don't think I ever replaced one either.

Obviously never having tested one I can't say with absolute certainty but I don't think a charcol cannister would be a flow-through device like say a catch can, so I wouldn't expect to be able to just blow through it.

Did you try sucking on the vacuum connection?
