Looks like the new out of the box Command Cruise control has a faulty electronic control bow, the stand alone plug in unit that sits under the dashboard. The unit is out of warranty as I bought it 3 yrs ago and never installed it. All exhaustive efforts to get the unit into simulation mode have failed, including a lot of time with Command Tech Support, who have been great.
The unit is mechanically installed correctly, and electrically based on numerous checks. Seems there is a fault in the area of the electronic controller between clutch disengage and the actuator to the throttle.
The unit is an old style with Vac actuation and whilst it is old hat, it is a system that does work, and for the GQ there are very few options. Command claim they have a replacement/upgrade option but at full retail its circa $900, which is a bitter pill to swallow.
So I am hunting around to see if anyone has a controller they have sitting under a bench they want to sell me, so I can confirm/rule out the controller is the issue. At best it will fix the problem, at worst tell me there is something else wrong and to start looking in a different direction, with more of my time expended.
I think the control modules for the 160 and 160B are the same.
