    Avalon 2025 Accommodation

    A question for Victorians.
Where is the best caravan park/ camping ground near a railway station so I can get to airshow next year. Ideally walking distance.
Back in 2017 and 2019 stayed at Lara sports club which was perfect with a bus at the door to airshow and return so did not need to move Patrol at all. Not sure if this will be available again next year.
At the end of the day, all you have is yourself and all you need is your friends (and in our case our Patrol)

Definitely book there again Wizard. Lara is the main base for the shuttle service to the air show. Can’t go wrong. If you stay elsewhere you’ll need to catch the train to Lara station to catch the bus anyway. Other alternative is to drive and park at the show. Getting in isn’t too bad, but getting out….forget it. Shuttle bus faster and cheaper. The only sensible option.

What is the charge? Eating a meal? A succulent Chinese meal??

I just reread your post Wizard and I think I misinterpreted what you were asking. So you’re not sure the camp spot at Lara will be available? I would check out the Little River Hotel. WikiCamps shows they have caravan spots available and it’s only a 10 minute train trip to Lara. Other than that, Geelong Showgrounds is about a 5 minute drive or 20 minute walk to South Geelong station, or maybe further south at Winchelsea where it’s a short walk from the Winchelsea caravan park to the station, but probably an hour on the train to Lara.

What is the charge? Eating a meal? A succulent Chinese meal??

Just confirmed Lara Sports Club will NOT be available due to ongoing works.
Saw Geelong showgrounds on Wikicamps so probably that will stay there.

Recent Temora show was fantastic. Only problem was culling down the 1800 photos to a manageable number.
Camping on site was a real bonus.
