Inverter Install - is this a good location?

Just after a bit of feedback here. I just mounted a 350 W inverter on the cargo barrier, as it is close to my aux battery, and I am after a bit of critical feedback on any foreseeable problems or mounting improvement suggestions.

I do intend to chuck a bit of split tubing on the cables, just don't have any at the moment. The bolts are 6mm with locknuts, and the clamp is some 3mm Aluminium flat plate. I have a bit of old conveyor belt rubber between the inverter and the cargo barrier for rattle prevention and a good firm mounting.

I presently have it wired to the fuse block mounted under one side of the rear drawers.

The cabling above the inverter is just the fridge wiring on a bungy.

Had mine mounted like that for 7 years, no issues. Only connected and used occasionally to run laptop or charge batteries.

Insulate the way its mounted with rubber matting, also remember it'll get hot so even higher up IMO
or build a small cage to enclose it. other than that all looks good.
Trim the cable tie ends with a stanely knife too,
those ends will cut the heck out of the back of your hand

Cheers guys - it seems pretty solid there and gets good airflow. Also still has a three inch gap to the back end of the fridge. Hopefully it will do the trick.

Laptop and then general charging of camera batteries etc. Nothing too heavy duty.

Got a 6800 klm trip planned in July and just getting things sorted.

Nothing wrong with having there that's where I had mine mounted in previous vehicles and will be doing same with this one, only difference I have mine on other side of barrier so kids can charge theyre crap. I've had this invertor for around 8 years and normally hard mounted to cargo barriers with no rubber and still works good

Firstly congratulations on choosing what I consider to be the best value 350 watt inverter you can buy. (The Victron Phoenix inverters are excellent quality pure sine units for those unfamiliar with such things - I’ve had several inverters over the years, with a few failures - the Victron units are heavier & much better built, they can also handle consistent higher output than their rating - I ran my 350w one, same as FNQGU’s, at over 500w for an hour & it didn’t falter).

No problem with mounting to the cargo barrier, but if it were me I would put it up as high as possible to ensure it doesn’t get ‘enclosed’ by stuff behind the barrier & to ensure it has plenty of air flow around it. I might even be tempted to put it on the front side of the barrier for that reason (& ease of access). Although you can install them to be switched remotely, I would choose to always travel with it fully switched off. In an accident scenario it is possible the 240v output could become damaged & shorted out onto the car. Not what you want, & potentially deadly to anyone who attempts to rescue you from the wreck.
