97 GQ 2.8 6cyl TD Question
Hi all,
Hoping to find out opinions on putting 2 stroke oil in the mix with this engine, and whether you can chip it as well.
A mate has just bought one and am after some info.
I've read some info on the 2.8 4cyl, but not sure about the 6.
Cheers
Simon

RD28 will be fine with 200:1 2 stroke oil mix in the fuel.
GQ RD28 has a mechanical injector pump so can not be chipped.
Which 2.8 4 cylinder have you been reading about, Nissan made a 2.7 4 cylinder (the TD27) which is basically a TD42 minus 2 cylinders.
The RD28 is closely related to the petrol RB series Nissan engines.

Thanks for this. I asked many times in other forums the same question about the chip, but no one answered me.
I must say, however, that here (in Bg) there are people who claim they can put a chip on this engine - rd28. And the money they want, are none too small - € 550

Here are some answers from Shell, fuel manufacturer supplying Australia.
http://www.shell.com.au/home/content...ulphur_diesel/
http://www-static.shell.com/static/a...lldxdiesel.pdf
BP, Caltex and Mobil only have basic info on what fuel types they supply and not much else. (Probably have to dig deeper to find technicl specifications and other info)
Cheers,
Rob
Just about to jump into my next Patrol. A 2001 GU II TB45E .
WARNING!: Do not ever use a towball as a recovery point. They are not rated and can become a deadly projectile during a recovery if they snap off, and they have done so with tragic results in the past.
