Rear spring hat bracing
Hi all
I'm keen to get the brace fitted to the top of the spring towers in the rear.
As I understand it there are two types, one that requires a bodylift to be fitted and another that doesnt(more expensive though).
I'm toying with the idea of fitting a 1" body lift and fit the brace while the body is off to make for easier fitment and hopefully the 1" body lift gives the required clearance for the brace.
But will this make my car illegal? It's already fitted with a 2" spring lift. If I needed it to get engineered to make legal, it would just be cheaper to buy the spring brace that doesn't require the body lift.
If anyone has thoughts and opinions on any of these ideas I'm happy to hear it all
Cheers

Yeah I have one fitted. The story was on 4wdTV last night actually.
Really impressive but of kit. Only have the single piece brace to suit a body lift. When you do a body lift you don't lift the body OFF the chassis ut just undo all the bolts and jack the body the 1 to 2 inches to allow you to slot the blocks in.
If you have a look in my build thread in my sig line and it should be in last 10 pages or so mate.
You should check the local RTA in Nsw for the rules on a body lift in your state. It will really come down to how hard it is Policed in your area. Plenty of GQs driving around with a 2" spring and a 2" body lift. None will be Engineered here.
The Superior products are great mate. I will likely fit the bolt on kit to the GUIV but its a bit more expensive so will save for that in the coming months.

The only good thing about an 80 series is..... the front end?? Wrong!!, the Engine?? Wrong!! the Full Time 4WD system?? Wrong!! Its the NissanPatrol.com.au stubby holder fitted over the transfer lever.
WARNING: Towballs used for recoveries can, and do kill people and damage property.

isnt there an issue with the bolt on kit if you have a long range tank though? In regards to clearances

No i have a Long Range rear tank and all good. Hmmmm? yes there was a slight issue. The top mount of the 2 rear shocks cant be undone once the brace is in. well can, but the shock cant be taken off or refitted with the brace in Position. We found this out the hard way damn it!
So if i want to take a rear shock off then the brace must be unbolted an lifted first. I fitted this brace while doing the lift and fitted it first. we had to remove it to thn fit the shocks and refit it again.
