noisy box

i also have 2006 4.2 turbo ute when mainly just idling it gets a real windy growling noise from the gearbox does any one know how tofix much appreciated

Does the noise disappear when you push the clutch in? If it does then it's either worn gears or bearings inside the gearbox and the gearbox will need to be rebuilt.

I had the same issue but after replacing the front bearings in the gearbox it sorted out the noise
