5th gear missing/not there
Hey Guys,
So here is the drama, I have a 92 TB42e GQ LWB and after some rather tame 4wding in some sand today, I mean really quite tame, I was on the way home and jumped on the hwy and went to change from 4th to 5th and nothing, let the clutch out and it was as if it was in neutral. You can freely move it into the spot where 5th should be with the clutch out as if that spot is part of neutral.
Any ideas? I've not long ago had this box out to change the clutch and I'd rather not have to pull it out again, but I think that's what needs to happen.
There was no noise or anything or any warning I didn't even know until I went to put it in 5th.
Thanks in advance
Jamo

Your box is coming out. Sounds like the gear has moved...

Broken retainer clip or guide allowing it to float on the shaft.
If I had the manual on this phone I could screen shoot the exploded view for you

Hey mate!
I've had a few health hiccups box only just came out tonight, yeah looks like what you said was spot on, what other damage am I likely to have done?
I'll be pulling the 5th gear off tmrw to have a look. Looks like the spring, the three locking pins, the washer n retaining clip pushed off

Re: 5th gear missing/not there
Given the clips and crap sunk straight to the bottom, without going threw gears, then damage is probably nil.

The only good thing about an 80 series is..... the front end?? Wrong!!, the Engine?? Wrong!! the Full Time 4WD system?? Wrong!! Its the NissanPatrol.com.au stubby holder fitted over the transfer lever.
