2006 STL 3 litre Turbo auto ?

Looking at buying a 2006 STL 3 ltr turbo.Wagon...are these models the series 3 or the series 2....just seems to be that the series 2 had more problems than the series 3......going to have RAC do inspection etc....but if these are series 2 I may be better staying away from it. Buying from an old mate who lives 200klm away and when I spoke to him last night he did not have a clue if it is series 2 or 3. done 290klm...all highay stuff...virtually zero use as 4wd and only towed his boat to the ramp about 4klm from his home. Full service history etc..apparently..one owner.

I'm not sure about the series but the grenade motor issues were with models between 2000-2003 however it's still best practice to to the NADS modifications

Thanks Double Tap....hopefully from 2004 model to 2006 they made some improvements....but the NADs seems to good insurance for peace of mind.

Its already done 290k trouble free, IMO would think its a safe bet its ok, but as growler said NADs is a great mod to do for insurance.
At least some guages so you'll know what going on under the bonnet.

An 06 would be GU4 or higher, mines an 02 which is a GU3. I think most of the issues were contained by then. As threedogs said, if its done that many km's without drama it's probably pretty safe.
