If running on gas and doing this I'd
be checking the leads. whilst its dark ,lift the bonnet and start it up
Thinking there will be sparks everywhere

have replaced coil , check points , spark , fuel, (no batt but brought one 6 months ago). the only thing we can think of is there is play in the dizzy to the cam putting the firing up the shit(have recently done new cap and points). so im on the hunt for a second hand dizzy "sigh".......and she was running so well!

So you bought a new battery 6 months ago ???
If it was a newie still could be an issue
if it was a replacement , ala 2nd handie,it could be a dud
I had an L28 here run that ruff it struggled to rev or idle well
Threw a big battery from a diesel in it ,(cant remember why we done it) and it was like a new engine
Ran like a tropper and screamed like a pig at a slaughter house
Not saying thats the issue, but just double check it with a volt meter
The other issue with the L28s is the fine filter just inside the carb, when these block , no battery, coil, leads, plugs will make it run better
Check that filter wont take long
If you need a dizzy, shoot me a PM ill checkout if theres a spare here
