    Tickover to High Help

    Hi,
My 1999 Patrol 2.8td used to tick over at 900 to 950 revs when at full running temp. but it now ticks over at between 1200 and 1300 revs which makes manoeuvring at low speed rather awkward.
I took the Patrol to my main agent and had the mechanic do a test drive, he thought that I had an engine management problem, the Patrol was put on the diagnostic machine which indicated "No Problem" the foreman then stated that his brother had the same model and 1200 to 1300 revs was the norm.
I asked the foreman to drop the revs to the abnormal speed that I was used to for the last 9yrs. ie. 900 to 950 but he declined and said that it was not possible.
obviously the fuel consumption has increased because of the high revs when standing at traffic lights etc. but the worst bit is the lack of low rev control when in slow traffic.
    Please Help Diggerdave.........
