Replacing Temp Gauge

Hey All,

Just wondering if anyone has pulled out their dash (GU) and if so, did you happen to notice if it was at all possible to replace the temp gauge with an accurate aftermarket one?

Has anyone done this?

Hi Toecutter,

I use software on my car pc that gives me very accurate engine temps through the diagnostic port. I run NISTune, ECUTalk and Scantech for engine and transmission data. Another option is the ECUTalk LCD display, which will give you very accurate engine temp readings along with heaps of other information and the ability to read and clear error codes.



Depending what engine you have, you should be able to find a readout module to give you all the information. Checkout ECUTalk.

Thanx Chaz for the post, I am currently looking at buying the cable from ECUTalk, not looking at getting the readout module. can you tell me what software on your pc you are using????

If your GQ is a petrol model, you should have a good choice of software available. If it’s Consult1 and injected, you may even be able to fit a daughter board or emulator to the ECU and have control over some engine tuning parameters.
Plenty of software is available.

Conzult etc
