Have you checked everything else mate? Bushes, tyres? I think removing those shims is one of the last resorts.

ARB have been great with a few items I've had to "Warranty" over the years. I'm not surprised they're replacing that for you. However the shocker is NOT your issue considering your symptoms.

I'm not sure if your model has NATS (Nissan anti-theft) system. Is there a red light on top of dash blinking when car is locked?
On some models, NATS shuts off the fuel solenoid...

Hmmm very interesting. Never seen them before other than the wind deflector you mentioned.
What's the point of them anyway? Not like you can crack the rear windows open, and they stop rain coming...
