Mine gearbox is the same and has been for 100,000 km. 4th is quiet because it is direct 1:1 ratio and doesn't put load through the countershaft like every other gear doesz

Its just an oil cooler. Remove and reseal. May have orings. Interesting that your tb42e has one, mine doesnt, its just a block off plate on mine.

You don't need to remove spark plugs, glow plugs or anything else to turn over an engine. Your turning it slow enough that any cylinder pressure is bled off past the rings before you try to move it...

Sounds to me like you've either lost lock up, or the auto is slipping.
The gas could be the way it switches, or a problem with the petrol system.

Could be the bush in the top of the gearbox just coincidentally broken. Pretty sure its just a plastic bush. Lost mine when i had the gearbox out the second time haha. Still drives fine. Just sloppy

Theres one in my gq. Great, done 50,000k towing 2.5t, mud, everything. Works great. Good feel. Still has heaps of life left!

Autometer make a good gauge so you shouldn't have a problem getting a new one. Specially for the price they are!
