Dad was RAF in WW2. radio Operator in Darwin ,13th and 30th squadron,at the 40 mile air strip south of Darwin

I have the Ipad mounted on my dash with ram mounts running MUDMaps and HEMA for offroad and IgoPrimo for onroad, between them it covers all my mapping needs and still take out paper maps with me.

I guess it would be based on the bandwidth usage and you would need to have phone reception.
I have the mudmap and use it a bit but I find it hard to use because you can't zoom out to see the area...
