My primary doesn't shut completely either. If you closed it completely though, there'd be no air at idle, no?

Yeah 11,000 is fine. If you are that stuck, use a pulley to lighten the load on the winch and components.

I've had a Runva 11xp for three years. Has never let me down. Pulled a Jeep out of bonnet deep sludge on Saturday night. I really should've double lined it but it was 1am and I couldn't be bothered....

Nope, should look dry. As long as it's not pitting/rusting it looks fine to me.
