They wont be in there long enough. If you take a look at a lot of kits and on patrols a lot don't use a flexi join. I know its bad but its not a long term solution

Grab a big screw driver , standard/flatblade since its the longest in the kit. hold the handle put the end of the handle against your ear and then put the tip against anything in the engine bay you...

Sounds to me your problem is in your network hardware, Copy a large file from your nas box on both your htpc's at the same time what are the transfers speeds?
