It sure had. Absolutely lucky it was the earth wire that was exposed. I actually have 3 wires running through the split conduit, 2 x 8 B&S and 1 x 6mm (All twin core)....

Bit of fun. What does a TD42 with a 12mm pump, 4" intake and light weight flywheel (~6kg lighter) rev like off the mark. Makes taking off and heel and toe pretty easy.

The oil you refer to could also just be excess from removing the oil...
