Yeah I used to go off time for the transfer but now just check the gauge. I have mine set up with a changeover relay to the senders in each tank, while the transfer pump is running the factory gauge...

Nah there is an air gap under it, it kinda sits tight between the two racks. Nothing has burned yet, you do get a little crispy on the bottom side so I turn them half way so it's crispy on the top...

I bought one from road runner a few years ago, just helps with messy foods. You can take it out and wash it rather than having to clean the inside of the oven.

I reckon you would want a minimum of 30t. You would rnd up leaving a fair bit if wood behind with a 20t. I just cut into rounds and the split at home and clean up afterwards.
