Have you tried putting the sd card back in the busted phone and connecting your phone to the pc?

There is a heap of free card recovery software on the net . Download one of the programs and recover. You might loose a few but majority will be fine. I've done it a few times now.

Update: they were skeptical about getting the pwr unblocked. Pwr isnt able to open them up and even if i find someone to open it up, it would cost $730 to replace a core. Bit of a shame considering...
