well you could blow me over with that one, seemingly oils arent oils at all as said by MACCA, certainly learnt something here, maybe it was a case of sitting around for a long time & the diff oil...

if you are unsure what you really want in lift size, a cheap option for 1-3 months is fit 2" spacers to the top of the springs, your standard shocks should be able to handle this for a short period...

the thermostat is off the bottom hose NOT the top in the 3L models, it is a bytch to get to, you cant get at it from underneath, the manual will tell you to remove the air box piping & second battery...
