I would pull the rocker cover off and crank the motor. Watch the valves - you should see if any of them are stuck as it wont move.

But - it could also be a tappet out of adjustment, lobe gone on...

Bosch GT40R Coil = need ballast resister, Bosch GT40 Coil + no ballast resistor

on crak there should be 12 volts going to the coil, while running around 9 volt using a ballast. But I would upgrade...
